DJ thought things couldn't get better. She was in the best mood she had been in in months and today they had assigned her to the Maternity Ward giving check ups.

"I love kids," she said, watching a woman here for a sonogram walk past the door. Suddenly, DJ wished she was a mother. Then she shook her head. "So not ready for kids..."

Andy came in with Alfie in a one piece snowsuit and Leo tucked away in his carry cot all warm and such. She took a seat outside the exam room and took off Alfie's outerwear while they waited for the Healer. She put his boots back on before pulling back Leo's flap on the carrier and she was greeted with big blue eyes and a gummy smile.

DJ poked her head out of the exam room after checking the schedule to see who was up next. She smiled wide.

"Mr. and Mr. Grant, I presume?" she said, all bubbly and bright, looking at the two little boys.

"Yes, these are the two little hellions..." She said with a smile and used her wand to levitate hers and Alfie's things into a chair in the room before picking Alfie and to carrier up, setting both on the table.

"This is Alfie, and in here is..." She stared ans she undid Leo from the carrier and pulled him out. "Is Leo."

DJ laughed and couldn't help but remark, "I'm dating a Hellion." And she meant it in the literal sense, since it was his last name.

"Oh, they're darling," she cooed, tickling Alfie a little before pulling out both boy's files. She looked up at Mrs. Grant before staring in almost horror. The ball came rushing back to her, restraining that blonde woman and Dakota restraining Mrs. Grant (which he chickened out of doing, the little coward) to keep them from fighting.

Andy smiled when she tickled Alfie before she saw DJ's look and her smile faltered. "What's wrong?" She asked, the ball not coming to mind. When she fought Kris, she didn't see anyone else.

"N-nothing," DJ said, trying to compose her features. "You just... looked familiar..." She began with Alfie, checking his breathing. "Uh, were you at the ball last weekend?"

"Yes, and I was a horrible mess. My brother threatened to land me here if I didn't get help." She said simply, meaning she witnessed the fight.

Sounds like a good idea to me DJ thought silently, but then pushed the words from her head. Everyone had been under stress that weekend and she had even told the blonde woman that in the same position, she probably would have done the same thing.

She turned her attentions to Alfie, checking the file on him. "Alphard. My, what a handsome name. Do you have a nickname? Can I call you Al or Alfie?"

Though Mrs. Grant had already said the boys' names, DJ knew it was important to talk to children a lot to provoke their curiousity and get them to work on speaking more.

"How old are you?" Yes, she sounded like she was eight, but that was okay. As long as she didn't say goo-goo ga-ga. She did general hearing tests and lit the end of her wand and told Alfie to follow it with his eyes.

"Affie! I Affie!" he squealed clapping, and following the light.

"I am just concerned with Leo. He was two months premature, but he cannot see anything unless it is right close to him. I am severely myopic, and I'm wondering if it was passed down. I wore glasses since I was about 2 or 3..." She said, keeping Leo occupied while Alfie got his check up. She played hand games with him and even gave him raspberries on his tummy which made him giggle.

"Mon petit prince." She spoke softly to him in French and he seems to hang onto every word. She didn't know if he could see her, but she could definitely tell that he knew who she was.

"I am not too worried with Alfie's health because both his father and grandmother were healthy to my knowledge. Its Leo I am more concerned about." She said to Healer Wiker. "But one thing that I am concerned with Alfie is, he talks a lot, just words and names that we use often at home, but he can't pronounce certain letter sounds, like he calls his godfather Sebbie instead of Sevvie which is what we're calling him so Alfie can pronounce it, and he can't seem to pronounce L's either..."

"Yes, I was reading that in his file," DJ said, finishing Alfie's check up. "That's why I started with Alfie, because I knew I'd finish up with him faster. As for his speech, I think there are speech therapy lessons, but I wouldn't worry about it. He's barely two. He'll catch onto the pronunciations soon enough. In the mean time, you can help at home, by talking clearly and directly to him and asking him to repeat certain words.

"As for Leo," she continued, turning to start the baby's check up, "it's very likely that he inherited your eyesight. Does his father have any difficulty seeing at all?" DJ had also noted that Alfie was adopted from the file.

Andy had to think for a moment, it had been a long time since she had seen her husband. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure he does. For reading I think, but whether he is near or far sighted is nothing short of a guess to me." She said, moving to Alfie to keep him entertained.

"Weeeeooooo, beebee Weeo!"

DJ held her wand upside down and held it close to Leo's face and then slowly pulled it back, watching his eyes carefully.

"He's definately going to need glasses when he gets older," she said, setting her wand down and tickling Leo. "I would suggest getting him fitted when he's two or three, after he starts talking well, that way he can get a proper eye exam and be fitted for glasses."

She snapped her fingers next to his ears, watching his head swivel to follow the sounds. "Hearings okay... Have you ever noticed any breathing problems? I know they're very common for premie babies."

"Umm, no, not that I notice, he just breathes heavily when he sleeps, and kind of snores..." She said. "If Leo is having troubles seeing now, why are we waiting for glasses?"

DJ frowned. "You are aware that your son is only a few months old, right? Glasses this early, without a proper eye test when he can verbally tell us at what distance he can see could hurt his eyes more, not to mention he's too young and he could hurt himself if he tried to play with them. Right now, all he does is eat, sleep, and fill his diaper. Glasses aren't necessary this early."

DJ smiled. "Don't worry, I'll take good care of you children, Mrs. Grant." She looked at little Leo and felt a rush of emotion. "Ohh, can I hold him, please?" she asked, finishing the check up.

"Go ahead, he loves being held, just sometimes its hard to keep my attention on a 19 month old and my 4 month old..." She said, hoping that the woman saw she was a human and that her family came before anything else.

"I can imagine," DJ said softly, carefully lifting Leo into her arms, cradling his head in the crook of her arm. "Oh, he's so sweet... I can't wait until I have a child..." She bit her lip. She didn't know if Ryan wanted kids and she definately wanted to be married beforehand. She sighed a little.

"For every sleepless night, there is a million things that make you love them even more." She said but got Alfie dressed to go back outside. "We should get going though. Thank you Healer Wiker." Andy told her before getting the baby from her and putting him in his carry cot. "Alfie what do you say?" She looked t her oldest in his snow suit.

"Ta goo" He said, getting the idea.
